NADMEX 2024 Highlights

TÜRKİYE SAID “LIFE COUNTS” AT NADMEX

The NADMEX Disaster Management Exhibition and Summit, a first-of-its-kind event in Türkiye, took place on October 2-4, 2024 with the aim of contributing to the formation of a disaster-resilient society. The event, which took place at the Istanbul Fair Center, Hall 9, brought together academia, public sector, private sector, and civil society organizations working in the field of disaster management. Over three days, NADMEX hosted leading figures in disaster management from Türkiye and around the world, closing its doors with great success!

The exhibition served as a significant platform showcasing the most innovative products in disaster management, bringing together eight different product groups and facilitating new collaborations. The Summit sessions, Expert Talks program, and hands-on training and drills conducted in the Training Area attracted considerable interest and drew large crowds.

NADMEX SHOWCASED THE MOST INNOVATIVE GLOBAL PRODUCTS

NADMEX 2024 hosted 80+ exhibitors and 7,456 professional visitors over three days. The exhibition showcased numerous innovative products, including search and rescue equipment, emergency solutions, fire protection gear, technical textiles, custom fiber products, and innovative, sustainable metal processing solutions. Additionally, the ADN-III+, the world’s most advanced portable life detector that revolutionizes search and rescue technology, was introduced for the first time in Türkiye at NADMEX.

THE EVENT PROGRAM, WHICH FEATURED EXPERTS IN DISASTER MANAGEMENT, ATTRACTED GREAT ATTENTION

Within the framework of the Disaster Management Summit, Expert Talks, and the Training Area programs, 32 sessions featuring over 65 speakers, 9 hands-on training sessions, and 2 drills took place. Keynote speakers at the NADMEX 2024 Disaster Management Summit included esteemed figures such as Captain Raul Angulo from the USA, Prof. Dr. Shigeo Tatsuki, Prof. Dr. Hayato Yamanaka, and Dr. Kiyoko Ito from Japan.

Other notable figures included Prof. Dr. Orhan Tatar, General Director of AFAD (Disaster and Emergency Management Authority); Selçuk Tütüncü, Director of Disaster Management at Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality; Prof. Dr. Cenk Yaltırak, Director of the Marmara Active Fault Hazard and Risk Application and Research Center at ITU; Dr. Ebru Acuner, Faculty Member at ITU Energy Institute; Prof. Dr. Alper İlki, Faculty Member at ITU Civil Engineering; Haluk Levent, President of Ahbap; and Okan Tosun, President of ANDA Association.

The Training Area program included topics such as the Importance and Methods of Practical Training for Field Success, Shock and Response, Crush Syndrome, Reflow: Suspended State, How to Make a Pit Prop?, Injuries in Disasters, Triage in Disasters, Emergency Sheltering in Disasters, Knots and Rope Techniques for Rescue, Debris Entry Techniques, and the use of Wired-Wireless Seismic Acoustic Listening Devices. Additionally, Captain Raul Angulo offered practical training titled “Exercises You Won’t Find in Books,” along with AFAD’s Canine Search and Rescue Team’s Debris Search Drill and the Istanbul Fire Brigade K9 Search and Rescue Team Drill.
